About us

At The Captains Hub, we connect yacht owners with the professional captains they can rely on while also offering a dedicated suite of in-house services delivered by our own experienced team. Founded by active and former captains who truly understand the realities of life at sea, we built our company around one core belief: the owner–captain relationship is the heart of a successful yachting experience. Having spent years in the wheelhouse ourselves, we know firsthand what makes these partnerships work—and what often goes wrong.

Our Captain placement service focuses on long-term and rotational roles, where stable leadership and continuity are essential. We spend time understanding each owner’s expectations and carefully match them with independent captains whose skills, personality, and leadership style best fit the program. This ensures strong, lasting relationships and consistent performance on board.

Alongside this, we offer a separate range of in-house consultancy and operational services—including pre-purchase inspections, sea trials, and global yacht deliveries—carried out by our own trusted team of captains and ex-captains who work directly with us. These specialists bring practical, real-world experience and a hands-on approach, ensuring owners receive accurate guidance, transparent communication, and reliable support throughout their journey.

With a carefully built network and a commitment to genuine, human-focused service, The Captains Hub provides tailored solutions that make owning, operating, and moving a yacht smoother, more informed, and far more enjoyable.

Our Philosophy

We started The Captains Hub because we saw the same pattern repeat itself across the industry—owners being advised by people who were ultimately trying to sell them something. Too often, decisions were influenced by commissions, loyalties, or convenience, not by what was best for the owner or the program.

As captains, we spent years in wheelhouses watching these choices play out onboard. We saw the impact of mismatched captains, rushed boat purchases, and overlooked survey issues. And we knew we could build something better.

Our philosophy is rooted in how we approached our own commands:
Be honest. Be objective. Protect the owner’s interests.
If a yacht isn’t right, we’ll say it plainly. If there are red flags in an inspection, we’ll surface them early. And when it comes to placing captains, we’d rather walk away from the brief than recommend someone we don’t truly believe in.

We built The Captains Hub on trust, impartial advice, and the belief that doing the right thing—consistently—creates stronger, more successful yacht programs. Owners rely on us because we treat their decisions with the same care and responsibility we gave to our own vessels.

That’s the promise our company was founded on, and it’s the standard we continue to uphold today.

  • Yes. We don’t take commissions, referral fees, or incentives from brokers, shipyards, or management companies. Our guidance is based solely on what is genuinely right for you. Whether you’re buying your first yacht or comparing options, we give clear, honest insight into suitability, running costs, operational implications, and long-term considerations.
Owners come to us specifically because they want a trusted, independent voice—not someone trying to steer them toward a particular vessel.

  • Our inspections are carried out by experienced captains who understand how a yacht behaves in the real world—not just on paper. We assess technical condition, maintenance history, safety systems, upcoming refit needs, crew considerations, and any operational risks.
You receive a transparent, practical overview of the yacht’s true condition, including issues that may not be obvious during a typical broker-led viewing. This helps you avoid unexpected costs, negotiate more effectively, and make a decision with total confidence.

  • We start by understanding your expectations in detail—how you run the yacht, the level of interaction you prefer, the vessel’s programme, and the atmosphere you want on board. We then look beyond resumes and certificates, focusing on leadership style, communication approach, past experience, and personality compatibility.
If none of the available captains meet that standard, we simply don’t put anyone forward. The wrong match can disrupt an entire program, so we prioritise long-term fit over filling a role quickly.
